Oscar Worthy Duplicity is Key

I've been thinking about the title of my very ambitious 'Oscar Worthy' posts. In my book, we're all worthy. If beauty and makeup make your world a prettier place, that's cool. Some of us may be Oscar royalty, others may not. The universal evening brings us closer together, united in celebration of magic created on the big screen. Go ahead, dream. Dare to dream, big and bold. You are the celebrity in your story.

"A STAR is only relevant, by the light left behind, quietly and with purpose."
Starts with a Swatch

Double Take.

I'm a lucky, lucky girl. Beauty brands have been very good to the blog, and my Oscar Worthy looks endeavor. Since diversity is the spice of life, I created two slightly different eye variations, changing only the eyelid base variable. I wanted to create a smokey eye, in smoldering black. When I received Hard Candy's sparkly, funky, gorge Spring products, I had to use Shadow Dancers, Night & Day.
Liquid to powder eyes. A Celestial turquoise, luminizing pearl, duo cream applied to the lid, dries in lightning speed. byTerry Color-Fix Cream Eye Shadow, Silver Granite, true silver glow glides on smooth, and feels natural. Hard Candy Meteor-eyes Black Hole baked, high pigment swirls of silver and black, creates an edgy, bold look. For added intensity, wet the shadow. Mac Pro Longwear Eyeliner in Black Ice inside the upper and lower lash line makes a statement. Mac Lash #20, a touch of density. Nars Stilo Liquid Liner, so thin & precise, one stroke application is all you need. I applied Armani Maestro Foundation post shadow application, avoiding smokey - eye spillage. Shu Uemura Sunlight Peach Dome Blush, creates peachy keen cheeks. A little goes a long way, blends well with fingertips, a sponge or foundation brush. Hard Candy Lip Def, Madison Ave. 3D pearl, soft copper tone screams Oscar, I am worthy.

Oscar Worthy Looks, From Me for You

Let the bright shine in. Nothing says siren like a chocolate eye, sunburst lip combination. It's a win-win. A-listers are in full tilt prepPrimed, primped and beautified, pre Oscar festivities. Yes, I said week. There are more parties, events, press functions, makeovers, hair & skincare, mani-pedi's, stylists and scrubs happening in Hollywood than politics at the White House. Exhausting. Pretty makeup starts with luminous, perfect skin. byTerry Cellularose Brightening Serum with Skin Perfecting Illuminating Serum, Hydra Radiance, Roses Native Cells is creme de la creme skincare. 'The multi-unifying, anti-aging corrective and radiance boosting serum adds luminosity to your dull, lackluster complexion.' For a bronze goddess look to go with the spray tan, Armani LSF #6 warm beige, and #8 tan, gives skin a radiant, sun-kissed glow. Shu Uemura Nobara Stick Foundation's creamy concealer coverage, provides spot on, extra coverage wherever needed. Urban Decay's Vice Palette Muse eyeshadow, a rich chocolate, high- pigmented shadow applied to the upper lid and crease looks smoldering, mysterious. Penny Lane, a peachy, metallic shade applied to the inner lid blends effortlessly with Muse, creating light. Blitz, a bold gold applied to inner corners, diffuses and delights. Muse brushed through the brow creates flair, ole' English flavor. Armani Smooth Silk Eye Pencil #2, a devine, chocolate brown lined across the upper and lower lash line, is the must have pencil in your makeup bag of tricks. The rich brown compliments every skin shade, gorgeous on woman of color. The Queen, Pat McGrath and King, Tim Quinn introduced me to Armani Smooth Silk Eye Pencil #2, my world of beauty, changed forever. Curl, Curl the lashes, apply generous coats of L'Oreal Voluminous Power Volume 24HR Mascara, Blackest Black, top and bottomGlamorous, clump free, plumped up lashes.
Colour Caresse by Colour Riche light texture, available in pretty hues of bright color. Fiery Veil, a burnt orange stands out in a crowd, Blushing Sequin, popping pink softens the look.
A star's got to have options. Yes, that means you.

Oscar Worthy

Most of us will never get the chance to attend the Oscars, NYC Fashion Week, the Grammys, much less be nominated, have our makeup and hair done by the Pros. Since I'm not in Hollywood painting faces this season, I thought why not recreate some 'Oscar Worthy' red carpet looks, for fun. Exclusively, for yours truly. There will be no crazy, weird, difficult makeup looks, only pretty eyes, lips and cheeks. Looks you can wear whenever the mood strikes. Maybe at your own, fabulous Oscar viewing party, sipping cocktails from the couch. Stayed tuned for more Oscar worthy looks...

Green Envy.

Wearing bold color looks cool when done right. Keep the rest of the face bare, and flawless. This look takes literally five minutes. I left the skin radiant and hydrated, applying Armani's Crema Nera Regenerating Cream and byTerry Concealer Touche-Expert Advanced to the under eyes and lid. (Remember to hit the inner & upper eye corners to create light.) Philosophy's Mineral Dual bronzer-blush, swept over the cheekbones, nose and eye crease. Mac Cosmetic's Fluid Line in Dark Envy, a stunning, emerald shade of green sparkle. Applies creamy and smooth, dries fast and stays put. I used a fine tip synthetic brush for precise application. A swipe of byTerry's powder, and you're ready to paint the town.

White shadow can be difficult, but provides a dramatic effect when paired with black. Makeup Forever Aqua Cream in white provides a shimmering, photo ready base. I applied Stila's Liquid Liner close to the lash line and in between the lashes. Armani Black Eyeliner Pencil #4 rimmed inside the eye, creates a dramatic black & white contrast. Every girl should wear Shu Uemura's Dazzling Black Diamond lashes, look and feel like a million bucks. Mac Cosmetic's Pigment in Soft Pearl White applied with the finger into the brow bone creates an ethereal, goddess effect. Nars The Multiple cream stick in Orgasm highlights the cheek a lovely shade of peachy pink. Dab Mac's Soft Pearl White Pigment on top of Nars Orgasm on high cheeks for  megawatt shimmer. Mac's Viva Glam Gaga in chalky pink compliments the blush, balancing the eye. The modern take on vintage Hollywood glam.

Dressy Bessy

A matinee during the week, while everyone is working. One of my absolute, favorite past times. An empty, dark cinema and the magic of film. Transports you to another world, where problems are forgotten. The big screen, the compelling story, stunning visuals, an actors' transformation. Blissful entertainment. The writer in me craves creative illusion.

'Tis the season to celebrate movie making, blood, sweat and years it takes film to make it to the big screen. Award Season's in high gear. Hollywood buzzes with stars, directors, producers, screenwriters, press, agents, designers, stylists, hair and makeup artists. Smack dab in the eye of the Hollywood storm,  equal parts exciting and exhausting.

Stars rely on their beauty team to get them through the whirlwind, looking fabulous.
Some award worthy beauty products I count on to create Oscar worthy faces,
stunning day and night. Joan Rivers will be left speechless.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, radiant dew coverage creates a flawless veil of gorgeous skin. For a bit more coverage try Armani Maestro Foundation, great as a primer and for those needing a bit more coverage. Holds up on camera! Armani's Celebrity Face Designer Tim Quinn should know, he's en route to LA to beautify Hollywood's A list stars.
Armani Lip Maestro in striking bold color and long lasting wear, delivers vintage Hollywood glam with a modern updated twist.

L'Oreal Infallible Shadows pack a serious punch.
The texture goes on smooth, doesn't fall on the face and lights up the eyes in Megawatts.
Gold is my go to favorite. Apply to the lid, inner eye, lower lash line creating chic, camera ready eyes.

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler and False Lashes
No starlet's face should be left incomplete.
Shu's eyelash curler and false lashes,

Mac Cosmetics
Matte Bronzer, a flat bronzer with no shimmer, spot on for creating texture, definition, warmth and an overall tan.
Pink Swoon Blush is a warm pink, and a favorite of a super diva client. She turned me on to the blush and an application technique. Applied just above the high cheekbone, the skin will light up the stage.

Sarraqa "Celestial rise - The rise of the moon, stars, and sun"

Shu Uemura's Celestial Garden Spring 2012
Shu Uemura's impressive 134th Spring Collection, Celestial Garden evokes an ethereal, mystical garden, celebrating color that lives harmonious between heaven and earth.
The Eye Shadow Trio comes in two limited edition shades. Air, bewitches in a Morpho, butterfly blue with tiny specks of silver, serene lavender compliments any skin tone and deep brown, in tune with nature and mother earth. The packaging graphics are so crisp and clean, pink and gray vines intertwined, it's almost too pretty to use.
Gloss Unlimited in special edition colors, comes in two blossoming shades. Neither sticky nor heavy when applied to the lip, the Goddess 'Sunn' would be ripe for a kiss. Blooming Pink Gloss is a subtle pink, and Corona Orange is a yummy, lustrous orange -pink.
The Creamy Dome Blusher, reminds me of an ancient, open air planetarium. Where one could go to examine the stars in wonder and awe. Fairy Pink, a lovely, bright blush leaves your cheeks aglow, while Sunlight Peach casts a magic spell of beauty upon all others.
The Eye Crayon, a creamy, dual pencil can be used to draw fine lines or blended like shadow. I adore these two colors, misty gray and molten brown. They are the perfect shades of serenity, where Khadroma (Celestial beings) lives. Celestial Garden Spring Collection, the heavens and earth meet in blissful, creative, masterful Shu Uemura harmony.
