Oscar Worthy

Most of us will never get the chance to attend the Oscars, NYC Fashion Week, the Grammys, much less be nominated, have our makeup and hair done by the Pros. Since I'm not in Hollywood painting faces this season, I thought why not recreate some 'Oscar Worthy' red carpet looks, for fun. Exclusively, for yours truly. There will be no crazy, weird, difficult makeup looks, only pretty eyes, lips and cheeks. Looks you can wear whenever the mood strikes. Maybe at your own, fabulous Oscar viewing party, sipping cocktails from the couch. Stayed tuned for more Oscar worthy looks...

Green Envy.

Wearing bold color looks cool when done right. Keep the rest of the face bare, and flawless. This look takes literally five minutes. I left the skin radiant and hydrated, applying Armani's Crema Nera Regenerating Cream and byTerry Concealer Touche-Expert Advanced to the under eyes and lid. (Remember to hit the inner & upper eye corners to create light.) Philosophy's Mineral Dual bronzer-blush, swept over the cheekbones, nose and eye crease. Mac Cosmetic's Fluid Line in Dark Envy, a stunning, emerald shade of green sparkle. Applies creamy and smooth, dries fast and stays put. I used a fine tip synthetic brush for precise application. A swipe of byTerry's powder, and you're ready to paint the town.

White shadow can be difficult, but provides a dramatic effect when paired with black. Makeup Forever Aqua Cream in white provides a shimmering, photo ready base. I applied Stila's Liquid Liner close to the lash line and in between the lashes. Armani Black Eyeliner Pencil #4 rimmed inside the eye, creates a dramatic black & white contrast. Every girl should wear Shu Uemura's Dazzling Black Diamond lashes, look and feel like a million bucks. Mac Cosmetic's Pigment in Soft Pearl White applied with the finger into the brow bone creates an ethereal, goddess effect. Nars The Multiple cream stick in Orgasm highlights the cheek a lovely shade of peachy pink. Dab Mac's Soft Pearl White Pigment on top of Nars Orgasm on high cheeks for  megawatt shimmer. Mac's Viva Glam Gaga in chalky pink compliments the blush, balancing the eye. The modern take on vintage Hollywood glam.

It's My Party and I'll Beautify If I Want To

Stila's two for one product combos can't be beat. Cherry Crush Lip and Cheek Stain is a lovely blushing, berry stain. It paints the lip a forbidden fruit, succulent, cherry red. With its twist up bottom, you control the right amount. On the lips, just turn, brush and go. To brighten the cheeks, apply directly to the apples and blend, adding more depth as you go. For a youthful, healthy glow, mix the stain with a bit of moisturizer to the back of the hand, voila circus brides and young maidens are back in Vogue. Oh yeah, Cherry Crush is made with Vitamins A, C and E for the ultimate experience in moisture. Antioxidants cherry and pomegranate extracts enrich the lip and skin. Good for you and looks great, too. Beauty editors will love it. I'm sold.

Convertible Color, Dual Lip and Cheek Cream in Lillium is a natural tint in the sheerest pink that comes in a cute, pint size compact. Another two for the price of one, wear it on the lips or apply with a foundation brush to the cheek for the slightest hint of blush. Winner of 'Best Cream Blush' by In Style Best Beauty Buys 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011, it's no wonder Lillium is a win-win.

The Right Stuff

Bronzer never really goes out of style, just like NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK, back in rare form after a long hiatus. So whether you're a Donnie fan or a Joey groupie, there's something out there for everyone. I use bronzer all winter long, but in summer, I like to kick things up a notch. Experimenting with different shades and textures. If I'm going to be on location braving the elements and extreme heat, I might mix a bit of foundation, like Armani's Luminous Silk Foundation  #4 with Fluid Sheer # 8Armani's Fluid Sheer # 8 is not for the light at heart. It's a gorgeous, rich, deep sheen of sexy, luminous color. Two dabs mixed with LSF are all you need for a full glam face. The best part, it looks radiant all day, and well into the night, long after everyone has packed up and gone.

Stila's new and improved Bronzing Tinted Moisturizer is weightless, and packed with sweet ingredients, like ginkgo biloba and chamomile for antioxidant protection. It's sheer, easy to wear. Neither too warm or too yellow, it's a pretty shade of peach. It feels light and wears well on its own. Pop it in your purse and you'll be ready for whatever mystery the day or evening might hold.

Chanel's Soleil Tan de Bronzer is the oddest, cool bronzer by far. It's not a cream, or a gel, and goes on smooth like velvet, drying instantly. It's a favorite among artistes both young and old. I love using it with a brush to contour and sculpt the face, the high cheeks, the nose, the brow and jawline. The color is a pale shade of brown, not muddy or orange with no hint of sparkle. It's the perfect base for fair skin beauties. Whatever your personal favorite, I say get out there and enjoy yourself. Me, I'm a NKOTB Donnie fan. When he break out the 80s moves, it makes me smile. The Beastie Boys are back with a vengeance. Make Some Noise people, break out your sexy, your bronzer and celebrate life!

Sparkle Plenty

While I am an avid devotee of a certain foundation, I will take the occasional new face product for a test drive. Every so often a new product is pleasantly surprising. Stila's Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer, oil-free with SPF 20, kicks up the Tinted Moisturizer category a notch. I always test a new product on myself, before using it on a shoot or important event. More often than not, a girl friend will be around, and more than happy to get a free makeover. Especially if they are off to a concert, a date or girls night out.
Stila's  Iluminating Tinted Moisturizer has an added moisturizer that feels weightless on the skin, the shimmer is ever so slight. Yet, the skin glows, looking like you stepped right out of the steam room. When I swatched the base color on the back of my hand, I was a bit worried. As soon as I applied the Tinted Moisturizer to my face, I relaxed. I was amazed by the sheer coverage and luminosity. This is a sweet alternative to full face foundation and the plastic packaging makes sticking it in your purse a breeze. Summer's right around the corner, let your skin breathe and shine, while looking sexy and pretty. Oh yeah, the hyaluronic acid to increase elasticity and increase hydration is a nice bonus, and it's packed with ingredients like ginseng root extract, gingko biloba leaf extract and chamomile for antioxidant protection. More bang for your buck, it's worth a spin.

It's Showtime

Award season is almost here and I love it. The guilty pleasure of getting together with friends and watching what the celebs will wear. Paying close attention to hair and makeup, of course. Even doing a Joan Rivers bit, and dissing the misfires in good fun. I know, I know shame on me that's bad karma, but I can't help it. It's the best form of escapism. I have been immersed in award seasons for many years, working beauty suites for prestige cosmetic brands. Painting the faces of countless A and B listers, my favorite clients have always been the directors' wives, the moms and the non-celebs who "can't believe they look so beautiful." It's a special night for them. I make sure they look radiant, glamorous and glowing. There are scores of individuals trying to get their films from paper to reality, working diligently on a project for years. Writing, producing and praying it makes it to the big screen. An evening to be recognized for their fearless, smart, persistent end product, the inspiring achievement. They deserve the applause and star treatment.
Stila's Live From the Red Carpet Palettes are the winning ticket. Available in 3 Palette combos. they are hot, hot, hot and just in time for award season. Breathtaking Beauty Palette no. 1 has 6 eye shades and is my favorite. It's pretty and wearable, with just enough depth of eye color to add some drama. The shadows are appropriately named Cinema, Best Picture, Film, Academy, Theater, and Drama. There is a shimmery pink and flat beige base, which compliments the brown, sexy eggplant and dark gray. With the prettiest pink convertible color and Kitten, an all over gold shimmer powder you can't go wrong. Dusted on the shoulders, decollete and high cheeks, it looks warm and pretty on film, under the paparazzis' flash bulb blitz. Guava gloss is a nice bonus, it's a soft, flesh tone pink. Created by Celebrity Makeup Artist, Sarah Lucero and in collaboration with the E Entertainment team.  Live from The Red Carpet Palettes have step by step instructions inside, how to achieve your very own Red Carpet glamour look.

Stila Irresistible

So cute, so functional and so fun. I just received the Stila Limited Edition Travel Palettes to take for a test drive. I find them simple, easy and fun. The Travel Palettes are adorable and affordable. They represent Stila chicks from around the globe, launching a new girl every month for five months. All the girls are out and available on Stila.com. (although I see a few hot combos are sold out) Each palette has 4 shimmery eye shadows, that blend nicely and one convertible color. I like Make an Impression in Moscow, the eye shades are a bronze brown, dusty orange, soft pink, and a warm burst of medium blue. Have some fun with color, at ten bucks a pop it's a no brainer.
Stila's Long Wear Lip Color is a Lipstick and Gloss all in one. Adorable creme is a flattering peach, that's not too orange or too pink and screams I can't wait for spring and summer. If neutrals aren't your thing, Long Wear Lip Color is available in 8 shades, like Lover a bold red and Daring, a sexy burgundy wine. I'm already thinking ahead to the Globes, Independent Film and Sag awards, envisioning all the pretty Stila Girl looks to create.
