Zac Posen Fall 2014 |
I do not miss backstage hair and makeup madness. The frantic energy, models rushing in late, stripping their faces bare only to repaint, the artistic vision. Fashion week, 2014. You can bet Kabuki and Zac Posen have discussed the makeup look at great lengths, Kabuki mastering the perfect co-creation. Old Hollywood glamour with an edge. Kabuki is calm amidst the frenzy, demonstrates the look to his team. He makes it look so simple, trust me it's not. Somehow, you manage to recreate his vision, models hair and makeup ready scramble to dress. The fairy-tale dream as they glide down the runway, confident and modern ethereal. A thousand flash bulbs, video cameras greet them. Months of preparation over in nanoseconds; no worries, the collection is sublime.
“The make-up for
Zac Posen this season is a deconstructed take on 1940’s glamour,” says key
make-up artist Kabuki. “To take advantage of the intimate show setting that
allows close-up viewing of the make-up, I chose an artful sweep of black cake
liner across the contour of the eyes. Since it is applied with a customized
brush, the effect is immediate and effortless”.
The brows and
lashes are left bare to retain a youthful, airy feel. A cool tone nude cream
eyeshadow is patted with a finger on the lids for a winter fresh finish. Skin is mostly
matte and pale but with a flush of a satiny color warming the apple of the cheek,
blending outwards.
A precisely lined
matte orange/red lip finishes the look by underlining the femininity.
