Beauty with Purpose: To Twerk or not to twerk. Who are the strong, confident female role models today?

Beauty with Purpose: To Twerk or not to twerk.

-Who are the strong, confident female role models today?

Watching Miley Cyrus host the 2015 MTV awards twerk and jerk while ridiculously exposed made me sad and nostalgic. I felt embarrassed for this generation of impressionable young girls trying to find unique ways to be seen in a sometimes cruel, over saturated, unladylike showbiz world.
Searching for independent healthy ways to express themselves in a confident, positive light. Don't misinterpret my two cents; I have no problem with nudity or celebrating the female body.
Come on, enough is enough. Who are the strong, confident female role models today? If I had a daughter, I'd hope she discovered her personal style in a funky, hip, her own different way.

How about bringing old Hollywood glamour forward with common sense, modern fashion and class. Sexy will most certainly follow. Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly and all the classic Hollywood beauties who remain forever in style.

Perhaps I'm old. Maybe I'm not with it, maybe the times have moved forward with naked narcissism and vulgarity. Before Selfies, there was a whole different breed of ethereal women to look up to. I emulated these beauties, they were my role models. Supermodels and super confident women from a different time. They posed nude without shame celebrating the female body, as did I. You knew you were safe in artistic hands and the images were stunning, timeless works of art.

Photographer Peter Lindbergh was behind many of the iconic pictures, then and now.
A legend and legendary lover of women.

Okay girls and ladies, loving and honoring yourself tastefully is something to aspire to...

Under the Circus Tent

Gone are the days of the Supermodel. The chameleons knew instinctively how to move, the perfect pose. They were beautiful creatures of illusion. They sold it & we were buying. In the age of reality TV, I find myself hitting rewind for inspiration. Peter Lindbergh was their ring leader, the master magician.

EJF FOUNDATION & SUPERMODELS SAVE THE SEA

Over the summer and in the sticky heat, I got to work with photographer Eric Guillemain on the EJF campaign and Save the Sea. We all donated our time and positive energy for a great cause. EJF is an organization protecting the planet & the people.
Eric is a true artist and rocker at heart. He's found a way of creating movement and mystery in every picture. Here are a few of my favorites. Using just a brown pencil on the eye mixed with a little gloss,
I kept the makeup sheer, fluid and sexy, much like the sea.

Thanks to Dakota Johnson for being a beautiful human being, inside & out. To Eric for his energy & passion. To Kenshin & Tran at L'Atelier NYC for their gorgeous hair. Every makeup artist knows the makeup is only as good as the hair that frames the face. And to the supermodels, who were  gracious & gave up their time.

NATALIA in ARMANI CLOTHES & COSMETICS

I have enjoyed working with Mr. Armani over the years. First as a model, now as a make-up artist. Luminous Silk Foundation by Giorgio Armani Cosmetics is my top foundation favorite. Sheer coverage that illuminates and creates flawless skin, it's
simply the best from the best. Congrats LSF Allure Magazine 2008 Best of Beauty! Here's an image I created  of Natalia Vodianova at the launch of Mr. Armani's fab new 5th Avenue NYC store.
Stunning!!!
Stay tuned for tips from celebrity make up artist Tim Quinn. A super star artist and person all around.
