To be Botox or Not to Be?

Beauty for me means so many things. It's living in your skin, being comfortable with this one life.

My mom always asks me to do her makeup when I go home. And I always give her the same answer.

    "Why? You're perfect the way you are." Her beauty has been set by the lines etched on her face. Her grace, her conviction and her life filled with family all live there.

Liquid Liner & False Lashes Oh My

Tulum Beauty Off the Beaten Path

Beauty can be found in the most unexpected places. Sometimes it's a much needed retreat from the fast pace of life. Tulum, an ancient mystical city on the coast of the Mayan Riviera offers just that. Your mind begins to slow down as your body unwinds. Lights go out early, which leaves you relaxed & stress free after a day of sun and the ocean.  Let the ocean scrub your skin and take all your worries out to sea.  Swim with the sea turtles.  Drink a beer and eat the best guac their side of the border. Laughter comes easy and beauty is found in a smile. Tulum is an industry insider secret and relatively inexpensive so shhh,  hurry up & get going!

During the day purchase a jar of Mayan Clay(about $20.00 US.) It's sold at most little boutique stores on the strip and in town. Rub it all over your face and body and lie in the sun for twenty minutes until dry. It will pull out all the toxins & leave skin feeling like a newborn's bottom. It's great for a sunburn too. EJF FOUNDATION & SUPERMODELS SAVE THE SEA

Over the summer and in the sticky heat, I got to work with photographer Eric Guillemain on the EJF campaign and Save the Sea. We all donated our time and positive energy for a great cause. EJF is an organization protecting the planet & the people.

Eric is a true artist and rocker at heart. He's found a way of creating movement and mystery in every picture. Here are a few of my favorites. Using just a brown pencil on the eye mixed with a little gloss,

I kept the makeup sheer, fluid and sexy, much like the sea.

What's the 411?

Every so often beauty editors from various magazines email me questions about a specific look and ask for my advice. I try to provide honest answers, & suggest products I actually use, along with the 'how to & why'.

Here's what a sample question would look like:

Hey!! Need a quote-- I've got a pic in of  ______ wearing purple lipstick. Can you tell me how women can translate that look? What with? What keeps the look modern?

My partial answer:

A warm compliment to a cool lip is to apply black creamy liner under the top & lower lash line. Smudge slightly outwards leaving the lid bare & glossy with a hint of gold shimmer. This will balance the coolness of the lip and keep the look fresh and modern.

My answer was inspired by working with Gucci Westman during fashion week. She used a beautiful lavender tone lipstick. Every look, color, & idea is an extended inspiration.

What actually ends up in the magazine often depends on which products are hot and who's wearing it!
